Austbrokers proudly welcomed over 250 insurance professionals at the Austbrokers Conference 2022 at the Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff, from Monday 9 May to Wednesday 11 May.
The conference themed ‘Stronger Together’ focused on the strength of the collective group through perseverance and resilience, as well as the strength formed by working with industry leaders.
Over three days, brokers and partners listened to inspiring keynote speakers Alex Nobel and Ben Crowe and participated in educational breakout sessions which were hosted by their insurer partners.
The Austbrokers awards winners were also announced at a Gala Dinner, and these awards recognise those who have demonstrated excellence in the Insurance Broking profession.
Barry Sonter of Finsura was presented with the prestigious Frank Earl Award, which was re-established this year in memory of Frank Earl, who served as a Director of Austbrokers Holdings from April 2005 until his passing in 2010. Frank Earl was a highly regarded broker and made a substantial contribution to the development of Austbrokers and the broking profession in general.
Barry has been a fantastic contributor to the Austbrokers network for many years and is highly regarded by clients and peers across Australia. He has also played an important role in mentoring young brokers within the industry.
The Austbrokers Young Professional Award was presented to Jesse Thorp from Adroit Insurance & Risk. This award represents the pinnacle of achievement for the Austbrokers young broker community. Jesse has demonstrated a dedication to the industry, and professional development and has continued to innovate and drive his business that supports the network and customers for future generations.
The Austbrokers Life Adviser Award recognised Ben Donald at ABFS Life for his excellence in the Financial Advice profession within the Life Industry. Ben has demonstrated technical skills as an adviser and has contributed to the broader Financial Services industry in addition to the Austbrokers network.
Ben Bessell, Austbrokers Chief Broking Officer, said, ” It was fantastic to see the calibre of those who were nominated for the awards. Congratulations to Barry, Ben and Jesse for their outstanding service to our customers and the Austbrokers businesses they represent. The conference was a great success and reinforced the benefit of engagement with all of our partners and experiencing “stronger together” in action.”
